In this category you can find information about 3D Modeling of object, about the 3D Reconstruction of real object with a process called photogrammetry and of course information about 3D printing.

I will not list to much informations about 3d printing here because in the largest 3d printing forum: http://forums.reprap.org/ and the german 3D printer forum: http://www.3d-druck-community.de all important information can be found

Some basic information and tips I will still post here.

Estimate the nozzle diameter and extrusion width

A 0.4 nozzle has nearly never a correct hole diameter of 0.4mm but it is very important to use the correct nozzle diameter (nd) in your slicer! Also a 0.5 mm nozzle never has exactly 0.5mm.

It is also important to use the best extrusion width (ew) for the used nozzle. The estimation is realy simple. First a small filament string is extruded quiete slowly into the air. After getting this string the diameter of it has to be measured. In my case I has a 0.4mm nozzle and my filament-string has a diameter (sd) of 0.46mm. The extruded diameter of the filament-string is exactly the extrusion width you want to get. The general formular is shown below.

Extrusion Width (ew) ≈ Filament-String Diameter (sd)

Nozzle Diameter (nd) ≈ Filament-String Diameter (sd) - Filament-String Diameter (sd) * 0.2

For my case, with a sd of 0.46mm, the best Extrusion Width (ew) is 0.46mm. Also 0.45mm or 0.47mm will work because it also depends on the used filament.

The Nozzle Diameter (nd) is sd - sd * 0.2 = 0.46mm - 0.46mm * 0.2 = 0.37mm. Also 0.36mm or 0.38mm will work because it also depends on the used filament.
